Profile of our Governor 2015-2016
Lion Dhruba Bahadur Thapa is a District Governor elected by THIRD annual convention held in Kathmandu on April 26, 2015 for the Lionistic year 2015-2016.
Lion Dhruba Bahadur Thapa, PMJF -Young Entrepreneur and Business Icons of Pokhara started journey of Lionism in 1999 from Lions Clubs of Pokhara Chautari and will serve as a District Governor of District 325 B1, Nepal for the LY 2015-2016.
A member of Lions Club of Pokhara Chautari since 1999, District Governor Thapa has held many lions positions in Club to District levels including Club President, Zone Chairperson, Region Chairperson, District Advisor, Senior District Advisor, Chief Area Coordinator, Chief District Advisor, SECOND VDG, 1st VDG and candidate of Governor for LY 2015-2016.
In recognition of his service to the Lionism, Lion Thapa has received many awards, including Outstanding Club President Award, 9 clubs Extension Awards, very active Zone Chairperson of the year award, 9 Int’l President’s Commendation and Appreciation Awards, 2 International President’s Leadership Awards, Dream Achiever Award, the highest honor of the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (PMJF).
During the journey of Lionism, Lion Thapa regularly participated 6 Lions International Conventions in Hongkong: 2005, Boston: 2006,USA, Bangkok:2008, Sydney, Australia:2010, Hamberg, Germany: 2013, Toronto, Canada: 2014. He has also attended 38th, 39th, 41st, and 42nd ISSAME forum in Dubai: 2011, Lebanon:2012, Kathmandu:2013, and Mauritius:2014, respectively.
He has also attended several conferences, seminars, Lions Regional Leadership Institute, DGE/VDG Training in Kolkatta:2014, Dhaka:2015 and 6 District Officers Schooling program.
In addition to his Lions activities, Thapa is a very renowned businessman and Chairperson of Himalayan Organizations. Under his chairmanship he holds 13 business organizations in the field of Automobiles, Real State, Banking, Tourism and Education.
He is also active in numerous professional and social organizations including current President of Investment Association of Nepal and former President of Western Automobile Dealers Association in Pokhara.
He has visited Canada, USA, UK, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, UAE, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Vatican City, Mauritius, Lebanon, Bangladesh and India.
Governor Thapa’s wife Milan Thapa, also a lion and serving as the club President of Lions Club of Pokhara Seti Gandaki for LY 2015-16, have 3 sons.
